Tassa drumming

Tassa drumming is a high energy music performance. It traces back to an indigenous musical art form that has many variations and complex rhythms. It was brought to my country by Indian indentured labourers after slavery was abolished. Although historically it was performed exclusively at Hindu functions, it has been embraced across out multi-ethnic, multi-religious society and is a sensation at political and social events, especially weddings.
