South African heritage day

On the 24 of September in South Africa we celebrate Heritage Day. Heritage day celebrates the cultural wealth of South Africa. South Africa has eleven official languages which I can only speak two of. Celebrating Heritage Day is one of my fondest memories of Primary School. We would usually dress up in our heritage clothes in which I dressed in my khaki klere. Which is dressing up as a farmer (boere) because I’m Afrikaans. The school would set up their braais on the field. We would spend the whole day learning about South African history. The sun would shine bright and the air would smell like braai meat. We would also play games on the flied like rugby or netbal. At the end of the day we would get a boerewors roll and a juice.
